Last Month we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My mom came and stayed with us for a week. During her stay we had great weather which allowed us to get out and do a little shopping. Coolidge and Brody loved having Grandma here every morning. Coolidge got to show Grandma his new school and the playground that we were eagerly waiting to open. It is open now and we are happy to be connected to our friends once again. She also had her first trip out to Queens where Ben grew up. Gay, Adrian and Susan made a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and my mom got to meet some of Ben's relatives that were unable to attend our wedding.

My mom was a great help to me during her stay. My house hasn't been that orderly and clean since the last time she was here. It was great to have the extra help. It was too bad that she couldn't be here for Christmas we will miss her.

December is here and we have been quite busy getting ready for Christmas. Today we took the kids to see Santa at Macy's. Coolidge was just getting over the flu and was a little scared of the winter wonderland that you get to see and enjoy before you meet Santa. He told Santa what he wanted and Brody didn't know what to think. It was great to see their expressions.

Brody is now 6 months old and is able to get up on all fours for about a minute and then collapses. He is very mobile. He rolls over from front to back and back to front. He loves to scoot backwards and now is pulling forward with his arms. His favorite activity is to have Ben build a tower so he can knock it down. We started feeding him solids a couple of weeks ago. He makes quite the mess but he loves holding the spoon and feeling the texture of cereal between his fingers.

We got our Christmas tree the first weekend of the month. Coolidge just loved picking it out and looking at all the decorations. He rearranges the ornaments on a daily basis and loves to tell Ben where daddy's present is more than twice a day. He is very excited and can't wait for Christmas day.

Ben and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary this month. I can't believe we have been together for 10 years. It seems just like yesterday that I met my handsome loving husband in Sapphire bar and lounge. I have to say I am the luckiest woman to have a wonderful husband who loves us so very much. Hopefully we will be able to get a sitter and and celebrate properly. (hint hint, Nicola ha ha.)

I also wanted to say Happy Birthday to another wonderful man, Jerry. He too was a wonderful father and husband. We miss him and think about him daily.

Merry Christmas to all our family and friends. I will write another blog after the New Year. Be safe.

Thanksgiving is coming and so is my mom. We are very excited to have her in NY for her first time during a holiday. It will be Brody's first so it is very fitting that it will be my mom's also. She will be staying with us for a week and I am planning to have as much fun as we can in such a small amount of time. We are planning on spending this special day at The Abel-Bey's house with family and friends. I had the privilege of having my sister Christie here one year and now I get to have my mom.

Ben had his directorial debut with a staged reading, "WQED." He did a wonderful job and so did the actors. Ben should be very proud of himself. He hopes that this will allow him to do another or even a one act play. It was great to see him so excited about his work. There is nothing better than working on something that you are passionate about.

I thought this might be the first of his productions that I would have to miss. However I have been blessed to have a friend (Nicola) who rushed to my house after work just so I could attend. God knows it is hard to leave your baby for the first time but I am able to do so because of the wonderful person Nicola is.

Brody is 5 months tomorrow. He has become quite the cutie. He loves to smile and will charm just about anyone by giving them a smile and a giggle. He loves to be on his belly and rolls from front to back and back to front over and over. He also likes to scoot and I am predicting that he will be crawling by next month. He is very strong and quite the go getter. He broke his first tooth through about a week ago. It was a bit earlier than I had hoped for. Just when I was super confident in breastfeeding, I am now terrified that he will chomp down while eating. I have some wonderful friends who have given me great advice and we are doing much better now. He is what we call our little holiday roast. He is quite the chunk and as you can see, he has cheeks that you can't help but sink your lips into.

Coolidge has started school for the first time. He had a rough start but is doing much better. He has been going for about 3 weeks now and only resists a little bit. He has a great teacher that he just adores. He brought home his first art project and we posted it on the refrigerator. He is so proud that he shows it to anyone who comes to the house. I have to admit during the first week and half I was ready to give up because of how hard it was on him. It is difficult to see your child cry because of fear. I am happy that I stuck it out because he has grown up so much just in 3 weeks.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. We wish you the best holiday. I hope that all of you that read this blog leave a comment of what you are giving thanks for this year. Of course I give thanks for my family but I am also giving thanks for having my mom with us. Anybody who knows my mom knows how much she hates to travel. That is why I am very thankful for her coming across the country to be with us.

Fall has arrived

After having a very long summer we are now finally experiencing Fall. Right now the whole family has quite a bit going on. Brody is now 4 months old and growing faster and faster. He has a doctors appointment tomorrow and will be getting his second set of immunization shots. He has a very sweet personality. He smiles at everyone and giggles quite often. He rolled over for the first time a week ago and loves to play on the floor.

Coolidge is also growing like a weed. He is starting school for the first time this Friday. He will be in the preschool class at Hale Learning Center. He is very nervous but also excited. We attended a family festival at the park near our home. Coolidge's favorite was the pony ride and face painting. It isn't something we do very often in the city. Coolidge got to see his first puppet show and I have to say I was impressed with one of the stories. We try to take advantage of all that the city has to offer families (especially when it is free).

Ben is working very hard and has just been given the opportunity to direct a stage reading for a company named TSI. It is his first time directing something on the stage. He has just finished casting and will start rehearsals soon. He is very excited and I couldn't be prouder of him. He also has a birthday coming up and hopefully I will get to take him out on a date. We haven't had some alone time since Brody was born.

I have been busy taking care of the home. It is my first time not having a job outside of my house and I am loving it. It is a lot of hard work, especially trying to find a school for Coolidge when he starts kindergarten. With so many options it takes a lot of research to get into the school of your choice. His zoned school is not an option because it is failing in many ways. If anyone has any advice please feel free to help me out. I hope all is well and I will try my best to keep up the blog.

Summer Fun

I am sorry that I haven't been putting up my monthly posts. I have been very busy and here is a photo of the reason why. Yes that is a photo of my new beautiful baby boy who is now 12 weeks old. He has been keeping me very busy along with my other beautiful boy Coolidge. Brody is growing like a weed and really starting to show his personality. He lets you know what he needs and loves to giggle and talk to you. He already weighs over 14lbs and sleeps through the night on a regular basis. He spent his first month of life here in NYC and the second in Seattle. Very fitting considering he has parents who were born in both states. We just got home from Seattle and had a great time spending time with family. All of my family was very helpful with Brody and Coolidge especially my mom and Sister, Christie. While we were in Seattle the kids experienced some of my favorite childhood things to do.
We started the trip with a party for some family and friends to meet Brody. My mom was gracious enough to host a party that happened to land on my birthday. What a wonderful way to celebrate my 34th birthday(yes that's right I am 34). I know I look 28, ha ha.

We also took the kids to the Evergreen State fair. Coolidge is a huge animal lover and I knew he would love to have a chance to ride a horse. I thought he might be scared and need me to stand next to him but he decided he didn't need anyone. I was such a proud mama. When we got to the fair it was raining and I was worried it wouldn't stop and the kids wouldn't be able to ride all the rides. However, it cleared up and stayed nice and cool so we spent almost the whole day there. It was a blast and Coolidge still hasn't stopped talking about it.

Coolidge and Ben were invited to go on a cub scouts hike with Henry. It was great for them to get a chance to see a part of Washington that you don't normally see. Coolidge had a blast and I was told he kept up with all the big boys and only got tired of walking during a small part at the end. At the end of the day he said to me that he wants to be a cub scout just like Henry.

We also spent some time at Martha Lake. I forgot all about this childhood spot until my friend, Alex reminded me. We decided to check it out and we fell in love with it. Especially Ben He wanted to know why we hadn't been there before. We spent a couple of days there and even met our friend Alex, Monica, Laurel Grace, Truman, my sister Christie and her two kids Kendal and Henry.

It is safe to say that we had a blast on our trip to Seattle. We barbecued, sipped ice tea, margaritas and a lot of wine. I am sorry it had to end but looking forward to the fall and holiday season. I can't wait to see Brody grow and Coolidge experience his first day of nursery school. We are glad to be home. I will be sending more photos on snapfish so that you can see all the fun we had. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer also. Please leave a comment and tell us what you guys did also. I will try to keep the blog up. I know there is a lot I have left out so keep in touch.

Party, Party, Party!

Since my last post we have celebrated many birthdays. The first of this month was our little friend Emma. She turned 3 on May 4th. We were unable to celebrate with her because she now lives in Belgium. We were thinking of her and her wonderful parents Jean-Christoph and Fabienne. We hope they had a great party. xoxo We sure do miss you guys.

Coolidge has another little buddy who just turned 4. Belen invited us to her birthday in Central Park and Coolidge had a blast playing games and running around with his friends. I can't believe how much they are all growing.

My sister Christie also just celebrated a birthday on May 8th. She is coming to visit us soon and we plan to party with her then. She will be joining us Memorial day weekend and we hope to get in as much fun as possible before the baby arrives. Christie didn't seem too excited to celebrate her birthday this year because of her age but she should because she is gorgeous and a wonderful wife and mother. I am so proud of her and can't wait to wrap my arms around her.

We also have two great friends who just got married on May 13th. Katie and Bobby tied the knot in Tennessee and we unfortunately were unable to attend the beautiful ceremony because of my pregnancy. I am sure it was a beautiful because Katie told me all about it at her wedding shower. We wish them all the best and can't wait to hear the details when they return from their honeymoon in Morocco.

On the same day Gay, Susan, Mitzi and Nicola all pitched in to throw me a beautiful baby shower at the Abel-Bey home. They must of worked there butt's off because they made it the most wonderful experience. It is nice to have a family as caring as they are. The weather turned out to be sunny but not too hot and everyone who came brought such wonderful gifts. I thank everyone who was able to make it. Especially my best-friend Aj. Nicola and Ben worked on getting Aj to come for the weekend as a surprise. And let me tell you I was in shock. I never thought I would have her there with me and her precious little baby girl Lily. I have such wonderful people in my life and I truly feel blessed.

Today is my Step mom's birthday. Happy birthday, Sue Poo. This is an old photo from Christmas but it is all I have. She is doing great and unfortunately will will not be able to celebrate with her until this summer. She too didn't seem thrilled about this birthday but she like Christie should be happy because they both look and feel great. We love

you and miss you. Looking forward to seeing in this August.

I am currently 36 weeks and just started my ninth month. The baby weighs about 6 lbs and starting next week she could come anytime and be considered full term. My allergies have subsided and I am feeling much better because of it. I am not getting much sleep at night but I am sure that will help me for after the baby comes. We all know that sleep is no longer in my future for awhile. I have a feeling she is coming early but not too early because I plan to hang with my sister and do a little pampering before my little princess joins our family.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone. This was Coolidge's first time experiencing the Easter bunny. He hunted for eggs all over the house and found a basket with all sorts of goodies. As you can see in the photo he is very excited about what he found. We had family and friends over for Easter brunch. It was my first Easter with my cousin Kiera. She got a chance to see Ben's family again since the wedding. The weather was great and so was the food.

Since my last post we have celebrated a few birthdays. Both Kendal and Adrian had a birthday in March. My best friend Nicola celebrated one also. It was great to have her at my house for Easter. She has been a wonderful support and I don't know what I would do without her in my life. Coolidge's friend Slater just turned three. Here are some photos of his birthday party.
Coolidge had a blast playing in the balls and making a fun craft project. It is interesting to see how they are able to do more sophisticated activities at the parties this year.

We have been working on potty training. It has gone up and down as far as success. Some days he is fully into trying and other days he could careless. He has a big boy bed that is being delivered this Monday. It ought to be interesting to see how he handles the change of having so much freedom of getting in and out of bed.

We had a long weekend due to Good Friday and here is a photo of us enjoying family time together. The weather is nice and the street fairs are back. At this paticular street fair they had a bouncing play area that Coolidge had a blast in. I love when the weather gets just warm enough for no coat and all the festivities come alive in the city. It is as though everyone comes out of hibernation.

I just started my eighth month of pregnancy. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and I will know how everything is going. I feel a bit of fatigue and my allergies are starting to attack. I mostly feel great. The baby moves like crazy. My weight gain has slowed down considerably. Thank God. ha ha. I also found out that the girls are throwing me a baby shower. I am very excited because I know with the second you don't usually celebrate with a shower. I am grateful to them for going through all the work because it is a lot of fun.

I hope all is well with all your families. Feel free to leave a comment. I love to read what you are think of my blog.

Spring Break

Coolidge and I spent our spring break visiting Aj, Sean and the girls in their new home town Columbus, Ohio. It was our first time meeting baby Lily and we both just fell in love. Aj and Sean have a beautiful new home with more room and toys than Coolidge knew what to do with. They took great care of us and we took the kids to some indoor play grounds in their area. Coolidge loved running, jumping and climbing with no shoes and no coat. It was great to see how they are living and now I have a picture in my mind when her and I talk to her on the phone. The most amazing part to me was sitting with Aj looking at the two mini versions of us. I went to high school with Aj and always hoped we would continue to be friends once we were married with kids but, never really believed it would happen. Thanks guys for taking such great care of us we had a blast. Here are some more photos of our trip.

Ben stayed home and enjoyed a break from all the hard work he put into the play. It was good to just have some quality time with my girl Aj. We are looking forward to them coming to NY some time soon.

Some other exciting news is that my younger sister Brandi has moved to St. Louis to live with her man Jeremy. She took off yesterday and is driving her stuff with my brother across the country. I am very excited for her and her new adventures. We wish her all the best. I also want to say happy birthday to Mitzi and Kendal. They both just celebrated a birthday. We hope they had a wonderful time on their special day.

We also gave Coolidge a new haircut. We have been wanting to cut his beautiful locks into a Mohawk but never had the guts. His hair was the perfect length and decided to do it. Check out the new doo. We are also working on potty training. We were so impressed with Maya and how well she was doing that we thought we should give it a try. He is so proud to be in underwear and loves the way it feels. He even talks about how Maya goes potty and wanted me to take his photo.

My pregnancy is going well. I am officially in my third trimester and my seventh month. I just saw the doctor and everything is just fine. The baby weighs about 2 lbs but feels like seven to me. My belly is much bigger this time around so I can't believe she is only 2 lbs. I am very eager to meet her but also willing to wait because of all the sleepless nights I have ahead of me. Coolidge is already very protective of her. I burned myself on my belly today and the first thing he asked was if the baby was ok. I can tell he is going to be very nurturing because he couldn't get enough of Maya's baby sister Lily. I will keep everyone posted about the pregnancy on my blog.

Any Old Company had their last show on Saturday and now we are recovering from all the hard work that went into it. It was a great run. They had a wonderful turn out and most importantly an experience that will make their next show just that much better. I attended the opening and closing night. It was great to see the changes it went through and how two different each audience responded to the show. I want to thank all the people that came to see the show. We appreciate your support and hope you will come to see the next one.

Coolidge is growing like a weed. He is very excited about the idea of having a new baby sister. He kisses my belly daily and has felt the baby kick. He also tells me that he has a baby in his belly and his baby kicks also. We are planning on moving Coolidge to a toddler bed in April. We went shopping to see what bed would be best because we live in such a cramped space. He will soon have to share a bedroom with the baby so we need it to be small. I am excited and nervous about him having the freedom of getting in and out of bed. He just loved jumping into the bed and trying it out.

The pregnancy is going well. A little bit of back pain because my belly is growing and growing. This baby moves like crazy. I swear she moves more than Coolidge but maybe I have forgotten. I am currently in my sixth month and everything seems to be going according to plan. Coolidge just loves that I have a big belly and I think he will miss it when it is gone. Please pray that it will one day be gone. Ha ha ha.

Coolidge and I are taking a trip to see my best friend Aj and her family in Ohio. I am so excited to go see her. She has bought a new house and had a new baby girl that I have not been able to see. I am dying to see how she lives and get the kids all together.

I haven't been posting many photos so I am going to add some old photos that I have been meaning to share. These are some photos of when we took a trip to New Jersey to visit our friends. This is Nicholas, Belen, Coolidge and Catalina. This was in the fall and the weather was still pretty good so we were able to play in her big yard.

We have also had some snow this year. It wasn't nearly as much as last year but Coolidge just loved making snow angels and digging the car out. This is a photo of our last storm which I think was the biggest in a long time.

Brilliant Traces

Ben and Katie's theatre company (Any old Company) is having opening night for their inaugural production next Tuesday the 28th of February. I am very excited for the both of them. They have put in a lot of hard work to finally get to this point. I hope that you New Yorkers and some out of towners can make it to see their very first play. The play Brilliant Traces will show from the February 28th to March 11th. To purchase tickets click on the name of the show. We hope to see you all there. You should also check out their website Any Old Company for more information.

My pregnancy is also going well. I just started my 6th month and I am 24 weeks. I feel the baby moving like crazy but Ben and Coolidge have yet to feel the movement. I feel much more energetic. The only craving I have right now is a Burger King chicken sandwhich. Just can't get enough of those. She now weighs over a pound and I am gaining weight like crazy. The say that girls steel your beauty and I can definitely relate to that theory because my skin is going through many changes. However my hair looks lush.

We have my cousin Kiera living with us. She moved here about 3 weeks ago and has fallen in love with this city just as I did when I moved here. I knew from her first visit here that this was the place for her. She can't get enough of day and night life now but wait until spring hits, she will be a New Yorker forever. She has been a wonderful help for me because Ben is so busy right now. She has a great energy that makes people want to be around her. It is nice to have family close by.

I love to see your posts and appreciate all of those who leave their comments. Kept them coming.

It's a Girl!

I had my ultrasound yesterday and found out we are having a girl. There is always a possibility it could still be a boy but she was about 95% sure it is a girl. My little Coolidge is going to have a sister. We have pretty much picked a name but you will all have to wait to hear the official name. We are always taking suggestions. The ultrasound was a much more pleasant experience this time around. She checked all the legs, arms, feet, hands, head circumference and amniotic fluid. Everything looks great. I am feeling the baby move more and more these days. Now I am just waiting for Coolidge and Ben to feel the movement also. I am currently at 21 weeks and from what I understand the baby is about 10 1/2 inches long. We are very excited about our new addition and can't wait to meet her. I am dedicating this post to the baby.

The holidays are over and we are now back to normal routines. Ben is busy getting ready to put up his first play. His Theatre company "Any old Company," is putting up the play "Brilliant Traces. It will star him and Katie. They are both very excited. The play will start February 28th and run until the 11th of March. Any of you want to check it out let me know and I will tell you how you can get tickets.

Over the weekend Ben took Coolidge to see his two great aunts Dolly and Zelda who is here from Texas. I heard it was a nice visit. We spent most of the weekend. Unpacking and getting the house in order. It is always tough to come home from a long vacation and get back to a normal schedule. It was also a nice long weekend because of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. I wish I could have a long weekend like that more often.

All is well with Coolidge and the little peanut in my belly. I am growing everyday. I have another doctor's apt. next week. I should be getting my sonogram in the next couple of weeks and will hopefully find out the sex of the baby. Yes that's right we have changed our minds. Don't hate on me for not having the patients. I can't stand to wait this time around.

Ben has been exploring his talent of taking pictures. You should check out his flickr site and see his new photos that he posted. Click here to see some of his new shots mostly taken during our last Seattle trip.

Right now I don't have any movies to recommend to you. We saw a movie called Mysterious skin but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I am currently reading a new book called A million little pieces by James Frey. It so far is a great exciting read. It is about his life as a drug addict. I will let you know how it goes later.

Hope you are all doing well.

Happy New Year!

I hope all of my friends and family had a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year. We had a great time spending the holidays with my family in Seattle. We spent Christmas eve with my Dad, Sue, brother, sisters and all the kids. We each chipped in to make a wonderful feast. We mostly sat around eating and catching up on how we are all doing. It was a wonderful night. Kendal showed us her new skills on the key boards by playing a number of Christmas songs. I am so proud of her. It is nice to see a child who actually enjoys the lessons. It was wonderful to see Coolidge play with his Seattle cousins because he doesn't get to see them all that often. He has really become one of the boys.

We spent Christmas at my mom's house. It was the first time in a long time that I actually woke up at my mom's house. It was nice to have her see Coolidge open up his presents. It was also the first time my mom and I made a holiday dinner together. I made the turkey and she made most the fixings. I am very proud of my turkey. You can see a photo of it on my brother-in-laws blog nwoods. Just click on the link to the right and check that bird out. Everyone was ooh and awing over my Martha Stewart 101 turkey. It was also our first Christmas without Jerry. He was sure missed. I do know he was there in spirit and was praising me on my fabulous bird and my mom's stuffing. We love you Jerry.

We also did some shopping mostly returns and exchanges. We also made time to see some movies. We took the kids to see Narnia. They had read the book and wanted us to join them for the movie. It was a lot of fun and quite scary in some scenes. It reminded me of Lord of the Rings in many ways but not nearly as good. We also went to see King Kong. This time no kids. I wouldn't recommend taking any child under 13 years old. I don't scare easily but I was pretty frightened in some scenes. It had some amazing shots of the NYC and the animals were so realistic you would never know it was created on a computer. I definitely recommend it.

our NewYears wasn't anything to talk about. Coolidge and I got the stomach flu and spent the evening on the couch. I was really bummed because it isn't often I get to have a night out with a built in babysitter. I had plans that were set months ago and couldn't even think of getting up to get a drink of water. Luckily it only lasted a day for Coolidge and three for me. Oh well there will be many more.

It was great to get some quality time with my family. I hope all of my family and friends had a good one and that this year brings nothing but wonderful things for you all.
